Welcome!

I am Yoo Ji Suh (Yooji), a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. I was a University Fellow at UW–Madison and part of the Social Media and Democracy (SMAD) and Center for Communication and Civic Renewal (CCCR) research groups.

My research brings together moral psychology and political communication. I study how moral values and emotions shape the way people engage with politics in digital media environments — and how those environments, in turn, shape what people believe, feel, and value. I have published ten peer-reviewed articles, four as lead author, in venues such as Communication Research, Digital Journalism, Media and Communication, and Communication Quarterly.

To tackle these questions, I use a mix of methods, including computational content analysis, surveys and experiments, linkages between media content and survey data, and large language model (LLM) simulations.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
